As of this writing the Arizona Legislature has decimated higher education with its budget cuts. How will this help improve our education system? According to the Coalition for Solutions Through Higher Education, “we are not producing enough educated, highly skilled workers to effectively compete in today’s global, knowledge-based economy. This crisis is especially acute in Arizona, which trails the rest of the nation in college completion and other key measures of educational performance.” So what will the legislature’s actions do? It certainly won’t improve the situation.
