If you want a choice of healthcare as usual or with a public option such as medicare for all then you must fight for it.  Dr. Howard Dean says,  “If Barack Obama’s healthcare plan gets changed to exclude a public option like Medicare, then it is not healthcare reform. Legislation rises and falls on whether the American public is allowed to choose a universally available public option or not.”

Max Baucus, chair of the Senate Finance Committee recently told the Helena Independent Record newspaper that a single payer health care system is “off the table.”  At hearings this week, Baucus had single-payer advocates arrested rather than allowing them to testify .  We need to let Senator Baucus know what we want – a public option such as Medicare.  Let’s inundate Baucus, the Senate Finance Committee and the President with postcards.  The insurance companies are!
