What's Next?

Ninety activists were trained at the DFA Campaign Academy.  They learned everything from creating a field plan, to creating an ASK list, to ASKing,  to dealing with the media.  I expect we will have some winning candidates in 2010.

What is next for DFA-MC?  We will continue our push for healthcare reform and fight the healthcare proposition proposed by the Arizona State Legislature:

HCR 2014 would amend the Arizona Constitution by barring any rules or regulations that force Arizonans to participate in a health-care system. The proposed amendment would also ensure that individuals have the right to pay for private health insurance.[2]

The Arizona Health Insurance Reform Amendment is similar to a November 2008 proposition that narrowly failed, Proposition 101. However, the new version has some changes that take into account the main criticism levied against the 2008 measure. The new version ensures that patients covered under the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System will not be negatively impacted if the amendment passes. In 2008, AHCCCS officials argued that Proposition 101 would increase costs by preventing the agency from requiring patients to seek services from within its network of providers.[2]

Do you want to help with healthcare, join DFA-MC at our next meeting on August 5th at El Penasco Restaurant, 19 E Broadway, Tempe 85282.

MegaForum on Healthcare Reform

While our elected officials debate our broken healthcare system, insurance lobbyists and other special interest groups are beating down the doors of Congress to make sure that their corporate masters maintain control of the healthcare system.  Motivated strictly by profits, the insurance industry is poised to spend over $100 million in advertising to defeat a public healthcare option.

Will your voice be heard? Or, will you allow the lobbyists and
special interest groups to make this all?important decision for you?

Join us

Tuesday night, 7-10pm, June 30th

Healthcare is broken, and the time to fix it is NOW. The clock is ticking. This is our best opportunity; we can’t wait another minute.

The law passed by Congress this summer will define our health system for decades. We must encourage Congress to do it right. Reform that assures every American access to the care they need, guarantees quality, and controls costs. A Single Payer plan or a robust public option designed to succeed.

JOIN US! – Doctors, Nurses, Patients, Activists, and Citizens. Demand health care reform that works. Help plan a strategy to make it happen. Together, with a loud, clear voice we will remind our elected Representatives and Senators that we VOTE and will not be ignored.
